The UPH Law School FDI Moot Team proudly represented Indonesia at the 2025 Global Rounds of the Foreign Direct Investment International Arbitration Moot, held at Suffolk University Law School in Boston, USA.
This year’s team consisted of Katrina Martin (Team Captain), Muhammad Glenn Akbar, Zoya Windyaningrum, Braxton Gunawan, and Jocevine Meganta Lovejoy El Lubis, who competed together as full members of the delegation.
The Global Rounds brought together many of the world’s leading universities known for excellence in international law and arbitration. Throughout the competition, the UPH team faced top institutions from Europe, Asia, and the Middle East, engaging in rigorous oral hearings before panels of experienced international arbitrators.
The 2025 case presented complex issues of international investment law, covering state succession in BITs and its implications for jurisdiction, questions related to the Monetary Gold principle, the scope of Full Protection and Security (FPS), including whether it extends to cybersecurity obligations, restrictions on capital transfers, and allegations of discriminatory treatment under the treaty.
For the members, the experience was both transformative and deeply rewarding.
“I still can’t believe that I started this journey as a first-year student and ended up arguing in front of real-life international arbitrators. It’s an experience I’ll carry with me forever,” said Zoya.
Katrina added, “Seeing our team evolve throughout this journey was incredibly fulfilling. We grew so much, not only as teammates, but also as friends. The process was rewarding in every sense.”
This achievement was made possible through the dedication and guidance of the team’s mentors: Jessica Los Baños, Febrianus Josua Gantan, Nadya Andyrasari Mulya, Sharon Yang Cahyadi, Randall Partogi Tobing, William Chindrawa, Felicia Himawan, Matthew Fajar Putra Utomo, Laras Kusumo, Grisella Avelyn, Liora Leticia, Jennifer Junardi Chua, and Arya Tidar Wirabhumi, as well as the continued support of the International Law Moot Court Community (ILMCC) UPH.
The team extends its sincere gratitude to its sponsors: NOBU Bank, Ikatan Alumni Doktor Ilmu Hukum Jayabaya, and DPC Peradi Tangerang, whose support made UPH’s participation in the Global Rounds possible.
Congratulations to the 2025 UPH FDI Moot Team. May this milestone inspire more UPH students to strive for excellence and continue representing Indonesia on the international stage.

The law school moot team representing Indonesia globally is very inspiring and shows how students can achieve great things through hard work. It highlights dedication and teamwork. During my own academic journey, I had to take my online exam while preparing for competitions, and it felt overwhelming at times. This post reminds me that with focus and effort, students can reach international levels and make their country proud.
